Hīkoi mō te Tiriti
Hīkoi mō te Tiriti, Te Whanganui a Tara, 19th November 2024.
Sydrina Nicholls was one of 50 Whanganui residents who travelled to Wellington by bus yesterday to join the hīkoi to parliament.
"Today when I showed up at the bus, I am just blown away about how I am one of four Māori on this bus- the rest are all Tangata Tiriti [those who belong to this land by right of Te Tiriti o Waitangi/the Treaty of Waitangi], of many kinds...Pākehā, chinese... and it's beautiful, and I feel amazing. I feel grateful to be here with these people, and to be walking together today"
