Living life in the fast lane: Dora the Explorer

"I've been KO'ed six times"

Dora AKA "Dora the Explorer" travelling down Vic Ave on her e-bike

Dora took time to give me a tour of her beloved electric bike which maxes out around 30 to 35km/h.

I usually have it on full throttle

She told me a story about a motorcycle accident she had, where she was caught between a car with no brake lights, and an unregistered, unwarranted, and uninsured driver behind her.

The car in front slammed on it's brakes and Dora managed to avoid hitting the vehicle, but the car behind ran into her brand new bike & threw her off.

The drivers of both vehicles thought she was dead, so instead of coming to her aid, they fought between each other about whose fault the accident was. But after 20 minutes out cold, Dora came to.

Dora was "pumped with adrenaline (you know what it's like!)" and managed to stumble over to her bike moments after waking up.

Look what you've done to my new bike!

Dora says she received compensation from the driver, and got "every cent out of him"

Matt Edmonds & Georgie Ormond, Castlecliff, 21/12/22

Sunset at Castlecliff Beach with Whanganui musicians Matt & Georgie of MeanOwls

Matt Edmonds & Georgie Ormond

Matt & Georgie are passionate about their hometown Castlecliff.

The couple play in a mean as disco rock-duo called MealOwls.

Matt plays bass and sings in a thick local accent, known to MeanOwls fans as the "kiwi Lou Reed"

Georgie absolutely hammers the drums with a heavy minimal disco metronome smash bash kinda style, and has been likened to Moe Tucker of The Velvet Underground.
